Meet UPSA's Principal
Dear UPSA Family,
I am excited for the opportunity to serve Union Point STEAM Academy’s students, teachers, and community members for the upcoming 2016-2017 school year! The mission and vision for the school is that UPSA will be recognized as the exemplary charter steam school in Georgia. I look forward to accomplishing this task with the faculty and staff as we collaboratively provide outstanding learning opportunities for our students.
I come from a long line of educators and have been told that education is in our blood. In 1995, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. I accepted a long-term substitute position at Union Point Elementary, which evolved into a full time teaching position. For the next fifteen years, I taught every grade level from second to sixth. I obtained my Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Piedmont College in 2000 and my Specialist in Educational Leadership degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2009. I was honored to be the Teacher of the Year in 2005. In 2010, I became the Instructional Coach at Union Point Elementary. In 2012 I was instrumental in writing the charter for our school to become focused on a STEM curriculum. This year I look forward to working closely with our stakeholders to obtain STEM certification and increase student achievement.
My husband, Brock, and I both live and work in Greene County. Brock is currently the principal at Carson Middle School. We are the proud parents of two boys.
I anticipate a wonderful year at UPSA supporting these amazing students, parents, and faculty! It is an honor to be a member of the Team UPSA!
